My name is Stéphane Béna Hanly. I am a visual artist based in Dublin. I make work that is often sculptural and idealy enhanced by a combination of the multimedia tools I have at my disposal such as video, sound and performance.
The sentiment behind my work is not always apparent, sometimes to myself but if I think just long enough about it before spiralling, I can speculate that it is informed by the very middle point we occupy on a cosmic and microscopic scale where the world seems to shrink and expand endlessly in all directions. Mostly inspired by obscure night terrors from a distant past, concepts of space and time that seem once to have terrified, lay now as the backdrop to the experience of life.
With that in mind, the work you will see here will either very lightly brush or heavily thump this concept but in the mean time enjoy the issues I deal with in between as I try to decipher what does and does not exist.
